The GMV Metric Will Be Renamed to "Sales"

To provide clearer and more consistent reporting across the Shopee platform, we're updating the GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) metric to a new "Sales" definition.

Starting from January 2026, reports will now update the "GMV" metric as "Sales".

What is changing?

  1. Ads "GMV" will be renamed to "Sales" for consistent naming across Shopee's reporting platforms.
  2. The new "Sales" calculation excludes seller rebates, giving you a more accurate reflection of your true sales performance.
  3. New "Sales" data will appear starting from January 2026.
  4. Historical data before this update will not be changed — it will continue to show values under the previous GMV definition.

Where will the "Sales" definition be updated?

To ensure consistency, the updated "Sales" definition will be shown across the following Shopee platforms:

  1. Shopee Ads
  2. Business Insights
  3. Brand Portal
  4. Marketing Center
  5. Seller Center (My Income, My Orders, Reports)

This unified definition helps sellers review performance under a single "Sales" metric across all Shopee platforms.

What is the New "Sales" Metric Calculation

Sales now shows the total order value (paid and unpaid) within the selected time period, representing the amount you actually receive after deducting seller rebates.

⚠️ Note: This value includes sales from cancelled and returned/refunded orders.

Why is this change being made?

This update aligns Shopee Ads' performance data with other Shopee reports and dashboards.

By using the same "Sales" definition across systems, sellers can analyze performance more consistently and understand actual earnings more accurately.

How does this affect my reports?

  1. All dashboards and reports that previously showed GMV will now display Sales instead.
  2. "Sales" figures may appear slightly lower than old GMV values since seller rebates are excluded.
  3. Previously, "Sales" reflected the purchased item's subtotal amount. Under the new definition, seller rebates are deducted from the new definition.
  4. This update ensures you're seeing the true value earned from each order.
  5. Ad attribution logic and data aggregation remain unchanged.

Will my past data be updated?

No. Your historical GMV data will remain as is under the previous definition. Only data from your January 2026 onwards will follow the new "Sales" calculation.
