Ad Group Education Article

Background

Managing multiple campaigns across different products can be time-consuming and complicated, and it is often hard for sellers to make the most of their budget. To help sellers simplify their campaign management and boost campaign performance, Shopee is introducing "Ad Group", a smart tool that groups products together for easier and more efficient advertising.

What is "Ad Group"?

Ad Group is a new promotion method available in GMV Max Custom ROAS campaigns. It allows sellers to group and manage multiple products within a single campaign, using a shared budget and target ROAS. The system will automatically optimize budget allocation across products in the ad group to help sellers achieve better results with less effort.

What are the Key Benefits for Sellers?

Simplified Campaign Management

Sellers can manage a single campaign for a batch of products using a shared budget and target ROAS. This simplifies daily ad operations and helps save time and effort.

Smarter Budget Optimization

The system automatically reallocates more budget to better-performing products within the ad group. This helps sellers maximize budget efficiency and achieve better results.

Scenario Promotion & Product Testing

Sellers can easily promote or test different product groups based on category, profit margin, new launches, or sub-brands. Each group can have its own tailored budget and ROAS goal, enabling sellers to quickly find high-potential products and top performers.

How to Enable "Ad Group"

  1. Enter Shopee Ads: From the Shopee Seller Center homepage, navigate to the Marketing Center and select Shopee Ads.
  2. Enter Promote My Products: Click on "Create New Ads" and select "Promote My Product".
  3. Select Products: On the Ads Creation Page, click on "Add Product" to select the desired products to include in the ad group (minimum 2, maximum 30 products).
  4. Select Promote Method and Bidding Method:
  5. Select Promote Method as "Create an Ad Group for all selected products"
  6. GMV Max Custom ROAS will be the default bidding method that currently supports Ad Group function.
  7. Ad Settings:
  8. Input the budget for the Ad Group. This budget will be shared across the products selected. It is recommended that sellers set the budget to 'Unlimited' to avoid limiting campaign performance.
  9. Create a unique Ad Group Name for your selected products to help with management and identification in future.
  10. Publish the campaign once ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the different "Promote Method" options?

Option 1: Create an Ad Group for all selected products

  1. All selected products will be sharing the same budget and ROAS goals as the selected products will be grouped into 1 campaign
  2. It is recommended to select products of similar type and ROAS goals to achieve the best performance across all products

Option 2: Create Individual Ads for each product

  1. Each product will be individually created as a campaign each, owning its own budget and ROAS goal
  2. Suitable for sellers who are looking for tailored ROAS and budget for each product, offering greater control over performance

How much budget should I set when creating an ad group with multiple products?

  1. As all the products in the Ad Group will be sharing the same daily budget set, you should set a realistic budget that ensures all products can deliver traffic smoothly throughout the day.
  2. To ensure sufficient budget, we recommend sellers to use 'Unlimited' budget* as the system will be able to pace campaign spending more efficiently to achieve target ROAS. Alternatively, you can set up a campaign budget greater than or equal to the sum of historical/expected budgets on product-level to match Ad Group's stronger ability to scale delivery.

Will the spending be distributed evenly across all products in the Ad Group?

  1. No. The system will optimize the spending of all the products within the Ad Group to ensure it is able to achieve the overall Ad Group Target ROAS.
  2. To ensure all products are able to receive sufficient traffic, you should select similar products based on product type and ROAS to improve performance efficiency.

How many products can sellers create within an Ad Group?

  1. There is a minimum of 2 products and a maximum of 30 products per ad group.

What happens if I select products with existing campaigns to be included in my Ad Group campaign?

  1. If a product is part of an ongoing, scheduled, or paused Ad Group, a pop-up will notify you that existing campaigns will be paused if you proceed.
  2. You can either remove these products from the Ad Group or continue with publishing.
  3. If you publish, existing ads for the product will be paused, and a new Ad Group campaign will be created.
  4. The products in the new Ad Group campaign will enter a learning phase while the system optimizes for the new ROAS targets and budget, with historical data aiding the learning process.

Can I create a new Ad Group on the app?

No, you cannot create a new Ad Group on the app. Ad Group creation is currently only supported on PC. However, you can see their existing Ad Group listed on the app.

Can I add or remove products from an existing Ad Group?

  1. No, we currently do not allow adding and removal of products once they are in an Ad Group.
  2. In order to stop a product from running in the Ad Group, you can create a new individual campaign OR add the product into a new Ad Group campaign.
