What is GMV Max Video?


GMV Max Video (formerly Video Ads – Max GMV 2.0) is an enhanced bidding method that expands beyond traditional ad placements by tapping into Shopee’s broader organic traffic. This upgrade allows advertisers to reach more potential buyers and improve budget efficiency. The system automatically optimizes campaigns to help maximize gross merchandise value (GMV) across the platform.

GMV Max Video allows your video ads to appear not only in traditional ad slots but also within Shopee’s organic traffic. This broader placement increases your content’s exposure across high-intent user touchpoints (e.g. product detail pages or search results) helping you reach more shoppers and convert more views into actual purchases. By removing the barrier between paid and organic placements, the system can more effectively scale your campaign’s GMV performance.


  1. Smarter and Simpler Campaign Optimization


Unlike standard video ads, GMV Max Video runs exclusively—only one campaign can be active per advertiser at a time. This exclusivity lets the system focus all data and traffic signals on a single campaign, optimizing performance based on historical engagement across the entire platform. It minimizes internal competition between campaigns, reduces manual workload, and shifts your strategy from managing multiple ads to tracking a unified campaign with consolidated results.



GMV Max Ad Requirements:


  1. One GMV Max Video campaign is focused on one video 
  2. If there are any ongoing / scheduled Video ads with overlapping durations for your selected videos, please note that enabling GMV Max Video will cause the other existing Ads to be paused automatically.



  1. GMV Max Video allows setting at “No End Date” for time duration to allow Shopee to fully monitor and adjust bid prices across different environments ensuring that the overall GMV potential and conversing opportunities is fully tapped on.



Best Practices for GMV Max Video:


  1. Refrain from unnecessary edits during the Learning Phase (Ads Cold Start Stage): After the start of your campaign, it will automatically enter the Learning Phase whereby Shopee will aim to help stabilize performance. During the Learning Phase, it is expected that there will be some ROAS fluctuations as the algorithm stabilizes. Hence, it is recommended that Advertisers do not make changes to the campaign during this period.


  1. Focus on L7D data reporting of ads performance: Shopee recommends choosing L7D data reporting for GMV Max Video, focusing on a longer period without frequently adjusting campaign setting is better for the system to accumulate more stable and consistent data for efficient ads optimization, and decrease the odds of achieving poor GMV results or having sudden expense surge due to negative operations. 


  1. Select Video Content based on the video's historical data and commission rate: Due to the mutually exclusive logic, one Video can only have 1 ongoing GMV Max type Video Ad at the same time. If the advertiser creates a GMV Max ad for a video which already has a pre-existing GMV Max ad ongoing, then the pre-existing ad will be stopped. It is recommended to create GMV Max Video ads with different video selection combinations. In the Creation Flow, the following metrics will be displayed to help advertisers decide to choose what video contents: 
  2. The video product’s commission rate
  3. The orders generated by the video
  4. The GMV generated by the video
  5. Selection tips:
  6. If you want to maximize ads conversions, you can prioritize and choose promote videos with high video GMV/Orders and also with high views  
  7. If you want to increase and harvest more commission fees, you can prioritize and choose to promote videos which contain high commission rate products.
