General Tips

Discovery Ads Audience Targeting

Discovery Ads help to put your products in front of shoppers who are most likely to find your products relevant when they are browsing the Daily Discover section on the Shopee homepage and Shopee Farm game, or the You May Also Like section on product detail pages, purchase-related and order-related pages.

Now, you can select a target audience that you want Shopee to prioritise showing your ads to when they are more likely to purchase your products*.

*Note:

  1. This feature is currently still in beta mode, and is only available for selected users

Why should I set a target audience for my Discovery Ads?

When you select a target audience for your ads, Shopee's system will prioritise your ads to them when they are more likely to purchase your products. This will in turn maximise the sales generated by your ads.

What happens when I select a target audience for my Discovery Ads?

  1. The Audience Setting algorithm actively identifies shoppers who meet your selected target audience criteria, and predicts how likely they are to purchase your product
  2. Our system then dynamically increases your bid prices (up to 2x your original bid price) to maximise the opportunity for your ads to be shown to your selected target audience
  3. Other shoppers who do not fulfill your target audience criteria can still see your ads if they are highly relevant and/or likely to purchase, based on their past shopping behaviour

What criteria can I use to set the target audience for my Discovery Ads?

You can adjust the target audience for your Discovery Ads based on the criteria below:

  1. Age and gender
  2. Target buyers of a specific age range and/or gender. For example, if you're selling dresses for office wear, you may want to target buyers of the female gender aged 18-49.
  3. Location
  4. You may want to target buyers in specific states where you can fulfill orders smoothly and promptly
  5. Interest Category
  6. Target buyers who have shown interest in specific categories based on their past view and click behaviour. For example, if you're selling mobile phone accessories, you may want to target buyers who have shown interest in mobile phone and mobile phone accessory categories
  7. Shopper Behaviour
  8. Target buyers with the highest sales potential based on their past behaviour, for example buyers who have:
  9. Viewed products similar to my advertised products
  10. Viewed my shop's products
  11. Added my shop's products to cart
  12. Purchased products from my shop
  13. For this criteria, Shopee will adjust your bid prices to be more competitive for the buyers with the chosen behaviour

How do I set the target audience for my Discovery Ads?

You can only set a target audience if you are using Discovery Ads without Auto Optimisation turned on.

To set the target audience for your Discovery Ads:

  1. After choosing the products you want to advertise using Discovery Ads, turn off the "Auto Optimisation" mode
  2. Click on "Add Advanced Settings"
